Students with Special Status
Updated: September 15, 2025
student employees
Working student status is granted to students who are employed during the academic year. The eligibility requirements and application procedures are outlined in this document. You must apply for this status when you register using the student-worker status application form. It is granted by the Academic and Equivalency Committee after reviewing the student’s application and academic plan, and upon the student’s request submitted to the Registrar’s Office.
Students who are employed may be eligible for:
- An exemption from attendance requirements for all courses. However, to the extent that their activities allow, they have the option of attending all classes as usual.
- The option to replace Continuous Assessments (CA) with a Final Exam (FE) when students’ activities prevent them from attending all the classes that make up a course assessed through CA. The assessment procedures must be specified in an academic contract for the year or for each semester, no later than 7 days after receipt of the approval notice. If the student does not respond, he or she will be considered to be participating in the CC.
