Student Life
Editorial by the Student Assistant Director, LIlYa Benabid.

Assistant Director (Student)
Beyond the breadth and diversity of the programs it offers, the UFR STAPS stands out for its dynamic, engaged, and supportive student community, which plays a vital role in fostering the personal growth and success of every student.
This vitality is driven by the UFR’s many student organizations, which play a vital role in bringing the campus to life by organizing sporting, cultural, festive, and community-building events. They also work alongside student representatives to advocate for and defend the interests of all students, with the aim of fostering high-quality learning conditions that respect each individual’s academic path and aspirations.
As Student Assistant Director, my role is to serve as a constant link between students, student organizations, the administration, and the various bodies within the department, such as the Management Council and the Advisory Committee. This role is based on listening, dialogue, and cooperation, with the goal of conveying students’ needs, suggestions, and concerns, as well as supporting student-led initiatives and projects.
I firmly believe that university life is built collectively. That is why I invite you to actively participate in the life of the department, to speak up, to share your ideas, and to get involved, in whatever way you see fit. Every contribution counts and helps to continuously improve our learning environment.
I am, of course, always here to listen to your concerns and would be delighted to work with you to advocate for your interests, support your initiatives, and, together, help enrich your academic experience at the UFR STAPS at the University of Montpellier.
Lilya Benabid – Associate Director for Student Affairs at the UFR STAPS of the University of Montpellier.
