Professional Bachelor's Degree in GDOSSL
Academic Director: Julien VIDAL
Overview & Objectives
The GDOSSL Professional Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6 certification) is designed to bridge the gap between the university and the professional world, and more specifically to equip enrolled students with knowledge of the public and private sectors of sports management in France and Europe
This initiative is a priority based on the following observations:
- Difficulty recruiting candidates capable of marketing sports products and services,
- A certain lack of understanding—or even a divide that needs to be bridged—between the public and private spheres of sports,
- The gap to be bridged between initial and continuing education,
- The dynamism of sports marketers in Occitanie, built on a strong history of athletic excellence, sports for all, and outdoor sports,
- The first initiatives to build bridges between nonprofit organizations, businesses, and local governments (financial ties, business creation and incubators, structural mechanisms, support programs, and calls for proposals, etc.) that must be supported,
- The existence of shared expertise in sports marketing to modernize and optimize the management of sports organizations
- Knowledge of the nonprofit sector, both in terms of management and in leading sports sessions
- Pedagogical and instructional knowledge related to managing a group during physical education classes.
Ongoing monitoring of the work carried out by students during and between the various on-campus sessions is a key educational priority in this program. The 600-hour requirement in a professional setting—whether through an internship, paid employment, or entrepreneurship—serves as the context in which the targeted skills are developed, consolidated, and certified. It encompasses several dimensions:
- Organizational Management: knowledge of the management and organization of a company or association, articles of incorporation, financial management, analysis, budgeting, and cost control.
- Event Management: project methodology, development of specifications, partnerships, communication, economic impact.
- Marketing Applied to Sports, Physical Activities, and Leisure: the market, prospects, commercial products, sales, and market economics applied to sports.
Skills Gained & Career Opportunities
This degree will enable students to develop the following skills:
- Marketing of sports products and services aimed at working with sports equipment retailers, associations, and companies in the events and sports sectors.
- To identify the various stakeholders in the field of sports organization management (institutions, professionals) and the nature of their practices and operations.
- Initiatives for the effective transformation of sports marketing and management.
- To supervise participants (of all ages and backgrounds) during physical activity or sports sessions.
Through this program, interns can pursue the following goals: to develop basic skills in regional sports marketing that will help them, on the one hand, advance their professional careers and, on the other hand, pursue a specialization in sports marketing and management at the master’s level.
