Lecture/Discussion: Dance in Physical Education

The Department of Education and Motor Skills at the UFR STAPS in Montpellier, in partnership with the university’s Art and Culture Office, invites you to attend a roundtable discussion on the exciting (yet challenging) question of the role of dance in physical education. 

Carole Sève (General Inspector of Physical Education for the French Ministry of Education), Sandrine Rey-Pouget (coordinating teacher for dance in the school district), Jackie Taffanel (choreographer and teacher), Sylvain Ferez (researcher-teacher) and the choreographers/dancers of the Compagnie Sauf Le Dimanche (Emilie Buestel and Marie Doiret) will help us better understand the challenges of this teaching, the obstacles encountered in the field, and explore ways to encourage this practice in schools.
