Student Associations

The UFR STAPS is home to a number of student associations. These associations usually bring together students from a particular training department or degree.

The UFR STAPS actively supports student life, subsidizing these associations and providing logistical assistance where necessary
One of the missions of the student vice-director is to develop associative life within the component.

amsem

AMSEM, Association des Masters en Sciences de l'Entraînement et du Mouvement, is the student association for the Masters in Sports Training and Research.

Its aim is to :
- Bring together Master's students (1 and 2) from theEOPSSTEP and STMcourses in the various classes at Montpellier's UFR STAPS
- Represent all EOPS STEP and STM students within the University of Montpellier and the UFR STAPS
- Create opportunities for exchanges (tutoring, integration, sporting events, cultural events, etc.).)
- Create or organize conferences, seminars and meetings to exchange ideas on various topics related to the science and techniques of sports training and the science of human movement.
- Provide access to certain training courses (i.e., PSC1, ETC.).

BDE

The Bureau des Etudiants en STAPS de Montpellier is the association representing all students at the UFR STAPS Montpellier. Since its creation in 2006, it has been energizing campus life, promoting social integration and a sense of belonging, guidance, professional integration and success, defending students' rights and representing them in dealings with institutions. 

In action, this takes the form of sporting and festive events, social innovation and advocacy initiatives, a solidarity and eco-responsible sports second-hand store, the launch of a textile collection, representation on the boards of our industry and regional federations, as well as on the various boards of the University.

DocSMH

The DocSMH association was created in 2008 to bring together former doctoral students and doctoral students from the Human Movement Sciences Doctoral School.

Its objectives are to:

  1. create and maintain links between PhDs working in the professional world, whether public or private, and students
  2. to bring these students into contact with the industrial world
  3. enable collaboration and initiatives between students from different universities in the south of France (Marseille, Montpellier, Nice).

The members of this association are united by a common theme: the study of human movement (ergonomics, physiology, psychology, neuroscience, etc.), the aim being to pool the skills of students from these different disciplinary fields.

MT S'Aventures

MT S'Aventures is the association for students in the Master's program in Sports Tourism Management.

The aim of the association is to bring together Master's students (1 and 2) from the various MTS courses at Montpellier's UFR STAPS, and to represent them within the university. 

It also creates opportunities for exchange, notably through seminars and a career day with sports tourism professionals and former students of the master's program. 

It also aims to promote the academic success and professional integration of its members.

Prom'APA is the student association of the Adapted Physical Activities (APA) course at the UFR STAPS Montpellier .

The purpose of this association is to

  • bring together APA students from different graduating classes.
  • to represent all APA students within the University of Montpellier and the UFR STAPS
  • create opportunities for exchanges (sports tournaments, JAPA, evening events, debates) between the different classes (L2, L3, M1, M2)
  • help members take part in conferences whenever possible.
  • take part in various disability-related initiatives (Telethon, Adapted Physical Activities Day, World COPD Day, etc.).

PESAP

The aim of this association is to bring together the various members of the Montpellier Master's program in Prevention, Health Education and Physical Activity (PESAP). The aim is to bring together students, lecturers and professionals to generate a PESAP network, notably through theme days and evenings. The association also aims to promote, disseminate and develop PESAP training among the general public and the professional world. Its aim is also to inform students about the main thrusts and policies of health promotion through events, a website and documents, and to help them professionalize (by putting them in touch with resource institutions).

To achieve these objectives, the association is setting up preventive health initiatives, taking part in the PESAP trade day and seeking to raise its profile in the local health promotion landscape in and around Montpellier.

Sport Education Motricité

The "Sport Education Motricité" (SEM) association brings together students from the Bachelor's degree in "Education and Motricity" and the Master's degree in "Teaching and Training in Physical Education and Sport" (MEEF-EPS) at Montpellier's UFR STAPS.

Its aim is to promote the academic success and professional integration of its members, to promote the educational teaching of physical, sporting and artistic activities, and to energize student life.

SMBA

Created in 2022, the SMBA is a student association dedicated to basketball. Its main objective is to promote the training and cohesion of students in the basketball specialization.
Our actions focus on several areas:

  • provision of reversible chasubles (in partnership with Sport2000)
  • setting up a tutoring system for students in the specialization (also open to MS students)
  • the organization, whenever possible, of basketball tournaments open to all students wishing to share this common passion.
