FAQ: Transition to Competency Blocks

What is the difference between a module, a " TU," and a course? Which elements of my training program are graded? Which ones earn ECTS credits? Which ones are certified?

Grades may be assigned to courses, which are grouped into " TU." The "TU " grade is the average of these course grades.

Only the " TU " and semesters are awarded ECTS credits.

The competency modules are certified. They do not carry grades or ECTS credits. They will be listed on a competency transcript upon graduation.

I am repeating the year. Which coursework I completed last year can be credited through distance learning this year?

Only a course ( TU ) that awards ECTS credits may be retained. No course that does not award ECTS credits may be retained.

Only a course ( TU ) that was approved as such in last year’s course outlines may be retained and used to grant credit by correspondence for one or more courses ( TU ) this year (see correspondence table xxxxx).

A semester that has been successfully completed (whether through credit transfer or not) is retained if a student repeats the semester.

My study contract, available through my digital workspace under the "IP" tab, lets me see which " TU " I still need to complete.

I am repeating the year. How are the “ TU ” I earned last year taken into account this year?

The grade earned for a validated “ TU ” is automatically transferred to the corresponding “TU ” (or “ TU ”) for this year, as listed in the correspondence table (see xxxxxx). This grade is therefore included in the calculation of averages according to the current year’s grading rules.

My study contract, available through my digital workspace under the "IP" tab, lets me see which " TU " I still need to complete.

I am repeating a year, and I have successfully completed one semester by taking advantage of course substitutions between certain TU. How are these TU taken into account this year?

A semester that has been approved through the offsetting of the component “ TU ” remains approved.

Semester-long “ TU ” that have not been individually approved (grade below 10/20) are not carried over beyond that semester.

My study contract, available through my digital workspace under the "IP" tab, lets me see which " TU " I still need to complete.

I am requesting an equivalency or a VAC for a TU. How are the “ TU ” earned in this way taken into account when validating the various stages of my training?

When a course ( TU ) is considered completed by equivalence, no grade is assigned to it (only the result: “completed”). It therefore cannot be included in the calculation of course substitutions with other courses ( TU).
