The Solidarity Run

  • Event type: Event
  • Dates: November 16, 2024
  • Schedule: Starting at 9:30 a.m.
  • Location: CREPS Montpellier

For the second year in a row, CREPS is partnering with the Maison des territoires du monde et de la solidarité internationale (MTMSI) in Montpellier for the34thedition of the International Solidarity Fortnight.

This project, called“Les Foulées Solidaires, will take place on Saturday, November 16. Its goal is to raise funds for a humanitarian cause. This year’s focus is on funding schools in Niger and Haiti.

The goal is to bring together 100 walkers and 100 runnersfor a 4-kilometer route through the streets of Montpellier, starting at the CREPS and ending at the entrance to the Polygone, near Place de la Comédie.

There is no emphasis on performance; the route is covered in a group at a very moderate pace (about 3 km/h for walking and about 7–8 km/h for running). The groups are led by a team of volunteers from the Montpellier Start Running association.

Everyone is welcome—schoolchildren, college students, and parents.

However, we cannot guarantee that the course is accessible to people with disabilities.

Participation is completely free, but we need to know how many people will be attending.

We invite you to register using the QR code found on the attached flyer and below. You’re welcome to bring your family or friends on Saturday, November 16, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the CREPS in Montpellier.

The walk will start at 10:15 a.m., and the race will start at 10:45 a.m.

Information about the event and the fundraising campaign is available on the MTMSI website: 34th International Solidarity Fortnight as part of Festisol | House of World Territories and International Solidarity (mtmsi.fr)

After the race, you can attend the kickoff of the Solidarity Festival: an eco-friendly Christmas market, a food court featuring cuisines from around the world, booths run by local organizations, and artistic performances (fashion show, K-pop, swing, and more).

If you’re unable to attend but would still like to support the humanitarian cause (even if you’re participating in the walk or run), you can make a donation by “buying steps”—each step costs €2—via the following link: https://www.helloasso.com/associations/maison-des-territoires-du-monde-et-de-la-solidarite-internationale/evenements/les-foulees-solidaires-deuxieme-edition
