“Dance, Body, and Movement”: A second year dedicated to the intersection of dance and sports!
The “Dance, Body, and Movement” project is returning to the UFR STAPS at the University of Montpellier for the second consecutive year! With financial support from the University of Montpellier, this project continues, and we are delighted to once again welcome the Sauf Le Dimanche dance company for another year of encounters, experimentation, and creation centered on the body and movement.
Dance and Sports: Exploring the Connections Between These Disciplines
Throughout the year, several workshops will be offered to students in the STAPS department. In collaboration with the Tennis, Rock Climbing, and Handball programs, the project will explore, in particular, the benefits of dance in the development of sports. This will provide an opportunity to examine the connections, synergies, and parallels between dance techniques and sports techniques.
The company will also work with students in the MEEF master’s program, focusing on the role of dance and dance education in schools, as well as with students in the Dance specialization, including projects involving visits to nursing homes.
A year that will end on a high note!
To wrap up this year of gatherings and experiments, a performance open to everyone will be held on campus in April. It’s an opportunity to share the fruits of this artistic and educational adventure with as many people as possible!
A look back at the project's first year in pictures
In 2025–2026, this artistic immersion had already allowed students and teachers to explore the connections between dance and sports, alongside artists from the Sauf Le Dimanche dance company.
