15th PESAP Meeting
Moving to Learn, “
” Learning to Move: Toward an “Active School” Model
Tuesday, April 14, 2026 – UFR STAPS Montpellier
Against a backdrop of increasing sedentary lifestyles and a
decline in physical activity among young people, promoting active lifestyles is a major public health challenge. In France, 37%
of children aged 6 to 10 and 73% of those aged 11 to 17 do not meet the
recommendations (Santé publique France, 2020).
A sedentary lifestyle plays a significant role in students’ daily lives,
particularly at school. While school is a place of learning, it also contributes
—sometimes unwittingly—to creating an environment that encourages physical inactivity
.
In this context, school and after-school programs appear to be
key drivers for promoting health. Initiatives such as
the “30 Minutes of Daily Physical Activity” program or “Savoir Rouler à Vélo”
exist, but their implementation remains uneven.
Therefore, it seems necessary to move beyond an approach focused on
individual behaviors and instead examine the environments.
How can schools promote active lifestyles? What
impacts does this have on students’ health, well-being, and success? And what role
do health promotion professionals play?
The 15th Conference of the Master’s Program in “Prevention, Health Education, and Physical Activity
” will explore these issues.
